Jumping into dating after divorce? You’re not alone! Here are 5 facts about the current state of dating after divorce.
- Divorce is highest during midlife!
In a Worthy* survey of divorced women, the ages between 35-44 are the rockiest years for marriages, with 42% of participants divorcing during those ages. Following closely behind are women 45-54 with 28% of participants.
- There’s no such thing as the “7 year itch”
Way way back in 2009, a report by the U.S. Census Bureau, the median duration between first marriage and first separation for those who divorced is 6.7 years. But the Worthy survey showed that only 23% of the women surveyed divorced after 6-10 years of marriage.
- The younger you get married, the more likely you are to get divorced
87% of participants who married between 18–24 divorced after 0-5 years of marriage. But, the women who waited until 25-34 years had a 50% chance of divorcing by 5 years.
- Location doesn’t really matter
Age, not location is the biggest factor impacting divorce with the majority of women across the US getting a divorce between 35-54.
- Let’s get dating!
Most of the women (78%) surveyed were thinking about divorce before the ink was even dry on the divorce papers.
